An Ode To Early Spring

Updated: Apr 20, 2025

Just a week ago we still had snow covering the ground. It didn't last long but just as it melted, we inevitably got another snow shower that made everything go from brown to white again. In Maine, the month of April sees this cycle repeat over and over.

This week though, despite a few persistent flakes in the air, we have seen Winter wain and Spring force itself into full fledged existence. A rather verbose way of saying: It actually got up into the 60's!

So this is my ode to Early Spring. And we can announce: Spring has sprung. Finally. Little flowers are popping up from under the dead brown leaves. The lakes are all melted, bird song is filling the morning air, brooks are bubbling and everyone's feeling that tingly scent of freshness in the breeze. It smells and sounds like Spring. For Real.
