Living in Maine isn't all lobster rolls and lighthouses. I know, shocker.
It's gravel roads that turn into ATV trails, changing weather, long winters, and views that make you forgive all of it. People here are tough, stoic, reserved... and will also talk your ear off if you remind them of their Aunt Judy. Raised in Texas, I'm friendly, loud, and a talker. But Maine definitely gave me my true grit. A great place to raise free-roam kids. And after over 20 years, I happily call home, sweet, home.
Local To US
Our tiny town of St. Albans is one of those 'blink and you miss it' towns. You'd never know it from all the traffic up Rt. 152 but trust me on this. Despite not hitting Maine's Top 10 lists, there are plenty of hidden gems in our neck of the woods. Hence, the traffic.

Worth The Drive
Maine's the largest New England state (I brag, being from Texas) then heads straight into Canada. Some log roads literally end in Alaska. It's all worth exploring—just prepare. Wilderness is the warm-up right as the insects haul you off. There are tamer options, too.

Favorite Spots
Whether it's a waterfall, farmstand, fried haddock, U-pick, or flea market, these are the spots we like to haunt. Repeatedly. Shops, cafés, ice cream shacks, or beach paths—some come and go, open for a weekend, or try on a new name. But we keep this list handy.

Having four distinct seasons is special, even though we moan about all of them—for known and unknown reasons too long to list. But if you’re a seasons junkie like me, jump in. This is seasonal dopamine: all the beauty, along with several pairs of boots.

From sayings like "Can't get there from here" to the makers, brewers, artisans, designers, and crafters, this is where we stash the good stuff as we discover it. Of course, a few crazy backstories come along for the ride. It's a Maine-ly Made free-for-all!
