Summer on Meadow Lake Farm

Summer on Meadow Lake Farm with twenty acres just doesn't believe in finished projects. More like taking turns. Grass grows faster than my to-do list and six five-gallon gas cans are the minimum requirement for country living. But then the mist rises on the lake. And I stand there with a stupid grin.

Twenty years ago when my kids were little, I asked them what they really wanted most. Did they want to ski? The beach? Unanimously they wanted a farm... with lots of animals. That was their dream. Happened to be mine, too.

So that's what we did. Then lucked out with a lake on the east, mountain with ATV trails on the west. Village to the south. Hay field and woods to the north. Oh, and ski mountains just two hours away.

Through the years I've wanted to share this place. And have here and there, in different ways. But keeping a farm "visitor ready" is a bit like whack-a-mole. So I started with my novels, The Ditchmas Series.

Welcome to my corner of Maine.

My head and heart have grand plans. My arms, legs, and back occasionally file a formal protest. But hopefully in not too much longer, we'll get a few more folks rocking on this porch, browsing a cottage shop, or sitting around a firepit out in the hay meadow watching the stars come out.

We're getting there! Old houses, barns, animals, plants, and mechanical things don't rush much of anything.

In the meantime, I'll show you around the best I can. Tour the farmhouse, peek in on the fix-ups in progress, or go meet the ponies.
